How to transform communities
In October, we worked with Nigerian Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe and the NYSC Adamawa State Corps Welfare and Health Services at a free medical outreach event organized at Banjiram Ward, Guyuk LGA, Adamawa State.
We believe Akiva™ is a fantastic tool to help protect from the bites that could transmit malaria, and over 1500 people turned out for the event! Bernard Onyenze and the Akiva™ team was busy sharing information about how to protect yourself from mosquito bites using Akiva™ Anti-Mosquito Lotion, and Senator Binos got into the action by giving out some bottles of Akiva™ to attendees! The Senator’s vision of creating access for healthcare into the communities he represents aligns with LivFul’s vision and we are thrilled to be working with him to bring Akiva™ to those who need it the most!
It’s great to see that the Senator understands the impact of malaria on young children and families! According to studies(i), up to 58% of pregnancies in Nigeria are complicated because the mum contracted malaria. Malaria infections usually result in more severe symptoms and outcomes, with higher rates of miscarriage, intrauterine demise, premature delivery, low-birth-weight neonates, and neonatal death. And even after birth children under five are more likely to die...80% of deaths from malaria are in children under the age of 5y(ii). Akiva™ is our next generation anti-mosquito lotion, that protects for up to 14 hours! It is safe to use for pregnant and breastfeeding women, and for children from 2 months old!
Akiva™ is on the rise in Nigeria, and we’re determined to contribute to the existing tools being used to protect people from the possibly deadly bites of mosquitos, with an invisible protection that fits seamlessly into people’s daily hygiene routine. This event was such a success that we’re partnering with Senator Binos once again for another outreach in Numan, Adamawa State! This upcoming event will be even bigger, bringing together participants from neighboring states.
